Winter Wonderland, on our doorstep in Hyde Park, Winter Wonderland is the top Christmas Market destination in London. Not only does it boast the UK’s largest outdoor ice rink, there are plenty of other fun activities to see and do – wild funfair rides, Christmas cheer with food and drink in its own Bavarian village, and live bands and a chill out area if it all gets too much! Guaranteed to be great entertainment for toddlers, teens to grand parents and every age in between!

This year Winter Wonderland is on from November 18th 2022 to 2nd January 2023. Entry is free during off-peak times and either £5 or £7.50 during peak times with rides and attractions at individual costs. Truly unmissable for any fan of winter festive fun!

That’s not all though – there are other London Christmas markets within easy reach of Lords Hotel, most notably the South Bank Market (close to the London Eye) running from November 3rd to December 26th. This market is full of vendors selling the perfect stocking fillers for your loved ones, as well as a wide variety of food and drinks stalls offering delicious food at every turn. If outdoor performance is more your kind of thing, then the Leicester Square Christmas Market, running November 9th to January 8th, focuses on street performers while also offering plenty of market stalls and food/drink options – all with the added bonus of being at the heart of London’s tourist district.

For anyone looking to partake in ice-skating away from Christmas markets, then Somerset House at the Strand (just 30-35 minutes away by tube) is this year’s top standalone destination, although closer to our doors, the Ice Rink at Winter Village, Westfield Shepherd’s Bush is making its debut amongst the big brand stores, and is just a couple of bus or tube stops away from Lords Hotel.

Oxford Circus and Regent Street, Bond Street & Marylebone – all within 20-30 minutes of the hotel by tube and bus – host this year’s local festive light show attractions. And if any extra shopping that needs to be done, then be sure to check out Liberty’s Christmas shop, or Fortnum & Mason’s store, both packed with excellent gift ideas close to the traditional Oxford Street and Regent Street light displays.

And, of course, how could we omit our very own Portobello Road market?! Sundays 6th, 13th and 20th December are marked for special Christmas events featuring special festive food and mulled wine. We can’t wait to see what local vendors are offering!

Lastly, one of our favourite things to do in London at this time of year is catch a show at the Royal Albert Hall, just a short walk across Hyde Park. This year’s run up to the Christmas break includes numerous performances by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as Christmas Carols and stories, Jazz and Jools Holland. View the full list of events here.

With so much to do, don’t hesitate to book now directly for the best rates to stay at Lords Hotel London.
